About LuxJury

Naming George Michael, Angel Olsen and the soundtrack to Vampyros Lesbos as formative influences, LuxJury fuse elements of pop, rock and soul–baring, self-effacing lyricism to create their sound.
In 2024, Lux sent a self-released EP to Bella Union. She expected it to go straight to Junk and prepared herself for giving up music altogether. In 2025, Lux had been given the support of Bella to morph the EP into an album. LuxJury decided to keep the title of the EP, though: Giving Up.
Lux grew up in a deeply suburban part of Vienna without a shred of rock and roll to guide her through. She turned to music as the only medium for transcending the boredom and monotony of a static neighbourhood. She drummed for a Weezer cover band: a sign of great things to come. But rebelling against the radio pop of mainland Europe has ironically led her back to really appreciating some of that songwriting and guitar tone.
Lux met (a real) drummer Howey at university, where they helped one another to fail in science labs. They moved to London in 2018 and they dived head-first into the Hackney Wick warehouse scene, meeting Florence and the Machine’s tour manager who would later introduce them to the eclectic queer rock scene created by producer and studio owner Margo Broom (Hermitage Works - Goat Girl, Big Joanie, Fat White Family).
Whilst loitering at the studio they met a young, eager and roguishly handsome studio engineer called Nathan Ridley. Nathan later became their trusted producer, and eventually, after some encouragement, bassist (he’s literally not a bassist.) Together they become LuxJury. They set about crafting the EP that would become Giving Up and first shout into the world.
